Margaret Jane Morgenthaler, 78, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. Margaret was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and lived in a suburb named Belleview until 1940 when her father was called to active duty in the military and assigned to St. Louis, Mo. He was later assigned to Madison, Wis., and after the war ended, they moved to Kalamazoo, Mich., where he was employed. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and later attended Western Michigan University, where she met her husband- to-be, Don, on a blind date in 1949 and they were married in 1952. He was in the Air Force and they started moving; first to Waco, then Sacramento, Calif., and finally to San Benito. After his discharge, they moved to Big Rapids, Mich., where he attended Ferris State University. It was there that she received her PHT degree (Putting Hubby Through). In 1969, they moved to Bedford, where their two children graduated from Bell High School and subsequently UTA and TWU. She was employed by the Hurst Euless Bedford ISD for 23 years serving as an elementary secretary and retiring from the personnel office as the person responsible for the assignment and hiring of substitute teachers. She joined Hurst Chapter #1099 of the Eastern Star in 1996. She served as Ruth in the 1996-97 year and as AC in the 1997-98 year. She worked up through the chairs to become worthy matron in 2000-01. In 2002 she became a member at North Fort Worth Chapter #684 and served as Ruth in 2003-06. Eastern Star brought many joys and friends. Margaret began working at Glenview Pharmacy in 1998. She worked four mornings a week. She enjoyed the people and the work. It filled many lonely hours for her and gave her a reason to get up in the mornings. She enjoyed being with family and friends and playing bridge with friends of 35 years, and also played in a bunko group. Her family was close and they laughed a lot and had fun together, they, her friends, and her pet dog, Molly kept her going after her dear husband, Don, passed away March 21, 2001. Other than these joys, her life was routine and quiet. Survivors: Son, David L. Morgenthaler and wife, Kathy; daughter, Diane Cloutier and husband, Gordon; and grandchildren, Timothy Morgenthaler, Shannon Cloutier, Jessica Cloutier and Allen Cloutier and wife, Christine.
