In Memory of Sister Incy Lavonia Morgan Brown
On October 21, 1940, God called Sister Incy Lavonia Brown from this earth to her home on the other side.
Sister Brown was born on November 20th, 1847, and her sojourn here was 92 years, 11 months and one day.
She was married to George Allen Brown October 2, 1866 and to this union were born 11 children, seven boys and four girls. Five boys and two girls survive; also 102 grand-children, great grand-children and great-great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her to the grave on January 6, 1919.
She and her husband united with the Primitive Baptist Church at Baptist Rest in Old Campbell County, Ga. in the year 1889. She joined by letter at Bethany, December 15, 1929, and visited the church as often as her health would permit.
The funeral services were conducted at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 5 1/2 miles from College Park, Ga., and interment was in the church yard in the family plot.
During the latter years of her life, Sister Brown was not able to attend her church services often, but she enjoyed having the brethren visit her, engage in prayer and talk of the goodness and mercy of God.
She was a very consecrated Christian and the fortitude she displayed in her suffering was an inspiration to all who visited her. She talked a great deal about death, and stated that she was ready when the summons came.
Words are inadequate to express the devotion that this God-fearing woman had for the cause of Christ. She loved the old Church and all the principles for which it stands, and was ever ready to defend them.
We feel that in the death of Sister Brown the church has lost a devoted member and the family a loving mother and grand-mother. She has conquered the last enemy, and her soul is now resting with her Redeemer, Christ Jesus, the Lord, where she can praise Him throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity.
Adopted in Coference this 14th day of December, 1940.
