MRS. LEONA GERTRUDE FRANKS, 93, of West Memphis, mother of Nelda Dean of Greenbrier, died Monday (Feb. 26, 2001) at Crittenden Memorial Hospital. Born May 13, 1907, in Corinth, Miss., a daughter of the late John and Callie Stewart Morgan, she was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ in Corinth. She was the widow of Grady Franks. Other survivors are two other daughters, Betty Downey of West Memphis and Rachel Henson of Hinesville, Ga.; a son, Robert Earl Franks of Memphis; and three sisters, Leotie Plaxico of Corinth, Ruby Merryman of Hornbeak, Tenn., and Birdie Mae Fulks of Marked Tree (Poinsett County). Funeral services were Thursday (March 1) at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with Bob Warford officiating. Burial was in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.
