AMANDA MORGAN

Amanda Morgan, daughter of William and Calista Carpenter, was born in Galesburg, Illinois on Nov. 17, 1862, and passed away at Los Angeles, Calif., on November 27, 1948, at the age of 85 years and ten days.

In 1884 she was united in marriage to Floyd Morgan and to this union eight children were born.

Early in life she united with the Christian church. Most of her life was spent in Wayne and Lucas counties.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, two infant sons, five brothers and three sisters.

The survivors are, John and Henry Morgan and Mrs. Edna Brooks, all of Los Angeles, Calif., and Charlie Morgan, of Chariton, three grandchildren, Miss Echo V. Davis, of Chicago, Robert M. Brooks, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Edwin L. Morgan, of Kalona, Iowa.

She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sade Lanham, of Ames, Mrs. Jessie Walker, of Centerville, two brothers, Granville Carpenter, of Russell, and Frank Carpenter, of Confidence, and a large circle of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 4, at 2 p.m. at the Beardsley Funeral home, the Rev. J. T. Bloom officiating. Burial was made in the Confidence cemetery.
