MRS. O. M. MARTINSON DIED
FOLLOWING A LONG ILLNESS
Friends and neighbors of the O. M. Martinson family were saddened Monday evening when it became known that Mr. Martinson had passed away at 8 o'clock at her home. Mrs. Martinson had been bedfast for most of the time for the past years, because of an illness with heart trouble, and all that medical care could do had been done for her. During the month of May she seemed a little stronger and had been able to sit up and even walk about her yard and she had enjoyed several car rides. About ten days ago she suffered another bad spell which resulted in her death Monday evening.
Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church with Rev. G. F. Butler in charge, and interment was made at Lakeview Cemetery.
Mable Morey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morey, was born July 28, 1881, in Lee County, ILL., and passed to her rest Monday, June 3, at 8 p.m. She would have been 58 years of age this summer.
With her parents she moved into Iowa in the year 1896. They lived in several Iowa communities for short periods of time. As a young woman she lived several years in Spirit Lake and was employed in local stores.
On December 25, 1909, she was united in marriage to O. M. Martinson at Minneapolis, Minn. To this union, three children were born. They maintained their home in Minneapolis, until 1920 at which time they moved to Montgomery, Iowa. In 1933 they moved to Spirit Lake and have lived here since.
Mrs. Martinson is survived by her husband, O. M. Martinson, two daughters, Mrs. Earl Miller and Betty Jean Martinson, and a son, Robert, all of Spirit Lake. Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Pagel, of Minneapolis, and Mollie Morey, of Spirit Lake and a brother, Edgar Morey, of Spirit Lake.
Chief among her womanly virtues, her family will cherish her memory as a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was indeed a devoted mother, working very hard for her family and taking life very seriously. But she did not limit her efforts to her family; she was always anxious over the welfare of others about her, and often cared for the lonely or the needy or despondent, and gave them too a mothers comforting cheer. For her family she was the pillar of strength, and especial friend and counselor.
She enjoyed her garden and flowers deeply, and the plants and flowers brought to her during her month's of sickness abed, gave her very much cheer and comfort. She prized her membership in the Loyal Women's Bible class of the Presbyterian church and felt the loss in not being able to longer attend its friendly meeting. Her passing will be a great loss to many family and friends.
