Mary Anne Reany Gillett
Mary Gillett was born in Eastern New York, Oct. 23, 1834, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. S. Snell on Sept, 10. 1923. Burial was made in her family plot at Battle Creek, Iowa, beside Charles Morey (died April 8, 1887), but Mary Gillett has no marker with her name on it. The gravestone for J. L Morey is in the same area.
She was married at Sycamore, Illinois, to Jeremiah L. L. Morey on the 17th day of February 1856.
They moved to Ida County near Battle Creek in 1871, and on July 28, 1880, Mr. Morey was accidentally killed. In the fall of 1883, Mrs. Morey was married to Henry Gillett and they moved to Anthon, Iowa, where they resided until the death of Mr. Gillett on March 21,1912 (He is buried in Grant Township, Woodbury County, near Anthon, Iowa).
Since that time, she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. T. S. Snell at Ida Grove, Iowa. She was a member of the Christian Church of Anthon, Iowa.
Survivors include her one daughter, Mrs. T. S. Snell of Ida Grove; and one son, J. H. Morey of Glendale, California; 7 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
