Opal May Morelock, 91, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Opal was born August 30, 1921 in Winterset, Iowa to Silas Edward and Verdie Blanche (Weaver) Thompson. She was a Bookkeeper at West Bank and enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved spending time with her family.
Opal is survived by her two children, Jackie Lauren (Greg) Wertis of Tulsa, OK and David Dean (Linda) Morelock of West Des Moines; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Gordon (Jill) Bennett of Sioux City, Michael David Bennett of Royal Center, IN, Penny Lynn (Greg) Kauzlarich of Rathbun and Dina Jo Enderton of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren, Jasmine Ann Bennett, Michael Edward Arnold, Ethan Alexander Enderton, Cadan Christopher Enderton and Talan James Enderton and two brothers, Floyd (Thelma) Thompson of Hot Springs, AR and Harold Thompson of AR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Morelock and sister, Ruby Thompson.
