Effie Swindler Morel, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, died Tuesday morning, June 5, 2007, at Pointe Coupee General Hospital, New Roads. She was 92 and a resident and native of New Roads.

Visiting at Niland's Funeral Home, New Roads, on Wednesday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Roads, on Thursday, June 7, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Bob Stine. Interment in False River Memorial Park.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Paul Chenevert of Lakeland, and Peggy and Bill Simon, and Paula and Michael Delaune, all of Baton Rouge; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Malcolm Morel, and John and Peggy Morel, all of New Roads; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Eugene Morel Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" LeBlanc; son, Joseph Eugene Morel Jr.; grandsons, Kevin Morel and Lance Morel; two infant grandsons, Brian Delaune and Joseph Eugene Morel III; infant granddaughter, Jeannine Morel; parents, Joseph Arthur Sr. and Adine Chustz Swindler; four sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
