George was the son of Washington and Paulina/Polina Mordica. He was born 12 Oct 1843 Boone Co, MO. He was an early settler of Sugar Creek Township. He served for the Union during the Civil War in Co. L, 15th Kansas Calvary.
After the war, he returned to Sugar Creek Township where he farmed and where his children were raised and married.
On 24 Jun 1868, he married (1) Martha Burrows in the nearby county of Jasper in MO. They were the parents of five children: Alice Mary [Stoker]; Ellen [Brown]; Fannie [Shannon]; Amanda {Leatherman] and George, Jr. Martha died in 1880 in childbirth.
On 10 Apr 1882, George married (2) Louisa Hollopeter, in Fort Scott, KS. He and Louisa were the parents of two daughters: Clara [Hagen] and Lola [Gordon].
George died at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 4 days in Junction City, KS. His body was returned to Rockville Cemetery for burial.
∼According to the Drexel Centennial biography, L. Mordica (1851-1930) was possibly a son, however, according to a MO. death certificate #15284, Louisa (Hollopter) Mordica with the same dates was George Mordica's wife.
