Luella was the daughter of Timothy J. & Rettia (Davidson) Moran.
She was the wife of John Carrol Bailey. No children
On June 8, 1900, nine year old Luell lived with her parents in Duval, Jasper Co, MO where they were buying a farm where her father supported the family farming. They had moved to MO from OH.
Members of the household were her father was Timothy, age 51; her mother, Rettia, age, 40; Stella, 17; Katie, 15; Bessie, 10, Luela, 9; & Curos, 3 (daughter). Her parents had been married 19 years & had five children, all of whom were still living.
On April 19/20, 1910, Luella, age 19, lived with her parents in Webb Ward 2, Jasper Co, MO where they were renting. Her father, Timothy, age 58, worked had a job as a teamster doing odd jobs. Her parents had been married 25 years, & all five of their children were living with them. Her sister, Stella, age 27, had married, but was now a widow. Katie, age 25, was a school teacher; Bessie, age 21, was a bookkeeper in a livery barn; Luella worked as a bookkeeper in a butcher shop, & Cura, age 13, was attending school.
Luella Moran married John Carrol in Webb City on February 18, 1917.
Luella's father, Timothy, died from a Cerebral Hemorrhage on Feb. 27, 1918. He had lived 66 years and 7 months.
On January 3/5, 1920, John Carrol, age 35, & Luella M., age 28, owned a home in Webb Ward 5, Jasper Co, MO, where he worked as a carpenter in a mill.
In 1935, John & Luella owned a home at 75 Inger Place in Joplin, valued at $3000. Luella's mother, Rettia, a widow, was living with them when she died in their home on November 30, 1936, from an intestinal obstruction. She had lived 76 years, 8 months, & 6 days.
On April 3, 1940, John C., age 56, & Luella, 49, were still living in their home on Inger Place. Carol had a job working in the salvage business operating a machine.
On April 3, 1940, John C., age 56, & Luella, 49, owned a home on Inger Place in Joplin valued at $3000. He had a job working a Salvage machine.
John & Luella were living at 75 Inger Place in Joplin when he was admitted to St. John's Hospital for heart problems. He died from Pulmonary Edema at 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 8, 1960 at the age of 75.
Luella died in Joplin, MO on July 29, 1973.

Mrs. Luella Bailey, 82, 305 1/2 N.Connor Ave., died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Medical Center where she had been admitted a few hours earlier.
Born March 6, 1891, Mrs. Bailey married J. Carrol Bailey Feb. 17, 1917. He died in 1960.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the St. Philip's Episcopal Church, the Woman's Club, Reciprocity Study Club and the Joplin Historical Society. She was also a member of the Joplin Health and Welfare board, past president of the AS chapter of the PEO sisterhood, the Missouri State Association of China Painters and the Alpha Kappa chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her sister, Mrs. Bessie Brastrup, Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Philip's with Canon David C. Patrick officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery under direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortrary.
The family will receive guests from 7 p.m. to 8:30 pm. today at Thornhill-Dillon."
