Thank you from Larry & Nancy Brooks Born May 4, 1922 in Blaine Died in Garnett Maiden name "Moran" Topeka State Journal Tues. 27 Jul.,1971, pg. 15: GARNETT - Monica Elizabeth Collins, 49, of Williamsburg, died Sunday in a hospital here. She had cancer. She was born in Blaine, May 4, 1922 and had lived for the last 25 years in the Emerald community. She was an Army nurse during World War II and served in the European theater of militay operations. She recieved her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City. Mrs. Collins was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Emerald and active in both church and community work there. She married Charles L. Collins June 6, 1946. He survives at the home. Other survivors include 5 daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Graves, Cherry Point, N.C., Rose Marie Collins and Regina Collins, both of Kansas City, Joan Collins and Peggy Collins, both of the home; 4 sons, John Collins, Thomas Collins, Timothy Collins and Leo Collins, all of the home; three grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs.Marie McCormick, Albuquerque,N.M., and Mrs. Patricia Harrington, Blaine. Also surviving are 8 brothers, Thomas Moran, Blaine; Joseph Moran, Bernard Moran and Daniel Moran, Phoenix; Maurice Moran, Topeka, Edmond Moran, Grand Junction, Colo., Fr. Leonard Moran, Assumption Parish, Topeka, and John Moran, Topeka VA Hospital. Funeral services will be Wed. in St. Patrick's Church, Emerald, and burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Farris Funeral Home, Garnett,is in charge.
