The oldest child,John Dale,died of blood poisoning in 1923 and is buried in Meade,KS.The family were all sick with pneumonia,as reported in the Fowler News on May 10,1928. George and Blanche were both critical with it.Blanche passed away on 12 May,1928 leaving George and 8 small children to care for. Two of the children were taken in by folks in Fowler and eventually adopted. Esther Elizabeth was taken in and adopted by Mr and Mrs Robert and Mary Thoman.John Wesley Moran,the baby, less than 2 months old at the time of Blanche's death,was adopted by Frank and Stella Dowell of Fowler,KS. When George finally recovered he took the remaining 6 children down to his brothers' in Texas to see if they could take in any of the children. They took Gilbert,but he was so miserable they sent him back.All ended up in the Wichita Childrens Home in Wichita,KS.Some were adopted,some were not.George remarried in 1929 and had 6 more children. Mildred was not adopted.She came to Kiowa,where she married Ulysses Farney on March 7,1939.Three children were born to this union,John,Diane and Kathleen. Mildred was a member of the Apostolic Christian church.She enjoyed quilting and painting.Also she was a member of the Busy-Bee Club,Kiowa Gardening club and Borderline Theatre.
