Funeral Services Held Sunday Mrs. M. Elmore, Sr.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 7, for Mrs. Michael Elmore, Sr., from the First Baptist church at Gillette with the Rev. B.I. Anderson officiating.
Mrs. Elmore had been in ill health for some time, and had been confined to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital for the past several weeks. She passed away Friday, August 5, following a heart condition.
During the funeral service, Mrs. Jack Doyle was the soloist, singing "I'm a Pilgrim," "Whispering Hope" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. Don Dickey at the organ.
Pallbearers included Fred Barlow, R.E. Morrissey, Dallas Stimson, Joe Kawulik, Floyd Reno and William W. Smith. Burial was made at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Ruth Moore was born on February 19, 1893, at Tekamah, Nebraska, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lafayette Moore. After completing her education in schools of Tekamah, she continued her educational pursuits at the University of Nebraska at Licoln and Des Moines University, Des Moines, Iowa, where she majored in music.
After graduation she taught public school music as well as instructing private pupils in piano and voice.
In 1925 she arrivied in Gillette for a visit, and was offered a position as instructor in music in the school system here.
August 18, 1928, she was united in marriage with Michael Elmore, and to this union two children were born; Michael T. and Mary rRh, now Mrs. Jack McClelland. Her husband, a prominent campbell rancher, preceded her in death in March, 1958.
Mrs. Elmore was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church at Tekemah, and was an active worker in the First Batist Church here, where she contributed through the years with her musical talents.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Campbell County Cow-Belles and took an active part in the work of the American Red Cross. In which she was a board member and served for many years.
Survivors include her son, Michael T., and his wife, Rita; a daughter, Mary Ruth McClelland and husband Jack, Michael Joseph and Susan Yvonne Elmore, Janet Lee, Michael Otis and John Paul McClelland; brother, Paul E. Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sissers Mrs. J. Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. Thomas Cultra of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Mrs. Sam Morton of Tekamah, Nebraska; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Maurice J. Clark of Gillette, Mrs. Lina Moore of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Clara Moore of Dundee, Florida; one niece, Mrs. Jan Offutt Rourke of Gillette, and large number of friends.
All of the surviving members of her family were present at the funeral services.
