Mabel A. Atha, 83, of Mannington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday (Nov. 24, 2006) from her residence.

She was born July 22, 1923, at McWhorter, a daughter of the late Eli and Rachel Virginia "May" Hardman Moore.

Mabel was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family gatherings, especially around the holidays, and enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed raising flowers, sewing and crocheting. A devoted Christian, Mabel was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Fairmont, where she loved to work with her church family. She loved her Pastors, especially Ray and Gladys Crabtree and all the ladies who worked with her in the women's ministry.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Martin E. Atha, whom she married Dec. 26, 1942; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Paula Atha, Dayton, Ohio, Martin L., Jr. and Loretta Atha, Geneva, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Dougherty, Mannington; nine grandchildren and spouses, David and Robin Atha, Jennifer Creech, William and Brandi Atha, Martin and Sherry Atha, Mike Atha, Ricki-Linn and Kurtis Helgeson, Stephanie Dougherty, Michelle Wiley, Michael and Lisa Dougherty, 16 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Emalee Atha, Nicole and Rachel Leach, Enrique and Elena Bucio, Lilianna Atha, Christian and Autumn Hegelson, Mercedes Corris, Wilder and Hayden Wiley, Matthew, Mason and Ryan Atha.

In addition to her parents; she was also preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Moore.

Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Charles Fancher officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Fairmont.
