Shirley Crouch, 68, of Springfield died Thursday at Regency Nursing Care Residence.
She was born April 16, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of Ralph H. and Anna A. Paul Moore. She married Howard L. Crouch in 1949; he died in 1990. Mrs. Crouch worked for more than 35 years in Illinois Bell Telephone's data processing department and in the construction and engineering departments as a division secretary. She retired in 1993. She also had worked for attorney Daniel Greer for one year and later worked for four years in the state departments of Conservation, Law Enforcement and Natural Heritage, leaving in 1991. She was a member of West Side Christian Church and Telephone Pioneers. She was instrumental in the development of the Red Cross Telecare Program and was also the first suicide prevention chairman in Springfield.
Survivors: mother, Anna A. Moore of Springfield; an aunt; and several nephews and cousins.
Services: Bisch Funeral Home West, the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial: Old Salem Cemetery at Riddle Hill.
