Mr. John Perry "Red" Moore, 87, passed away Tuesday evening, July 1, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.

Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, July 4, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Brooks Partain will officiate.

Born July 26, 1926 in Sumter County, he was a son of the late John David Moore and Carrie Dean Perry Moore. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a prominent Sumter County farmer of row crops and cattle for many years, and had served as a Sumter County school bus driver for several years, for the school in Plains.

He was preceded in death in 2008 by his wife, Iris Rose Lee Moore.

Survivors include two sisters, Pat Hines of Leslie and Grace Harden of Stone Mountain; a dear friend, Gary Hearon of Americus; and several nieces and nephews.
