Frances Rubio Montoya, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away Aug. 17, 2007.
She was Born in Las Vegas, N.M., to the late Timoteo and Virginia Rubio.
She was united in marriage in Santa Rosa, N.M. on Dec. 18, 1959, to Leo T. Montoya.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was the owner of House of Flowers and Gifts for 25 years, a book-keeper for Leo's Glass and Glazing and a former secretary for Dr. Robert Vander Meer. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, visiting her ranch in Sapello and traveling to the Salman Ranch Raspberry Farm every year. She also enjoyed shopping and caring for her beloved parakeets.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Timoteo and Virginia Rubio; brothers: David, George, Tim and Charlie Rubio; daughter-in-law: Irene Gallegos.
She is survived by her loving husband: Leo T. Montoya of the family home; sons: Danny Gallegos, Tim Gallegos and wife Mary-Louise and Leo Jr. Montoya II and fianc/ Vicia Tania, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; grandchildren: Michelle, Danielle and Diedre Gallegos, Diana and husband Lance Bennett, Katey, Carlos and Javan Gallegos, Leo V. III, Fabian and Diego Montoya; great-grandson: Landen Bennett; sister: Josephine Rubio of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers: Edward Rubio and wife Pricilla of Albuquerque, and John Rubio and wife Liz of Rio Rancho, N.M.; sisters-in-law: Josephine Varela and Connie Sackett both of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother-in-law: Ronnie Bennett of Carefree, Ariz.; numerous: nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M.. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Anthony's Cemetery in Las Vegas with the following serving as casket bearers: Lance Bennett, Michelle Galleon, Carlos Galleon, Leo V. Montoya III, Fabian Montoya and Edward Rubio II.
