The Rev. Allen Vancil conducted the service in Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church Monday afternoon of last week for Mrs. Osa Jane Bennett. Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery with Dean Funeral Home service. The daughter of William and Blythe Wakefield Montgomery, she was born in Wayne County, Mo. , October 20, 1888, and died at Methodist Hospital in Memphis Saturday, January 27, at the age of 83. She was a member of the Cottonwood Methodist Church. On December 17, 1908 at Elvins, Mo., she was married to Sylvester V. Bennett and they moved to Pemiscot County the following year having lived for many years in the Kinfolks Ridge area, where he farmed. Mr. Bennett preceded her in death in May 1972. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Reichert in 1951 and a grandson she had reared, Eddie Bennett, in March 1972. She leaves three sons, Olen, O.V. and Eugene Bennett, all of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Fern Anders of Caruthersville and Mrs. Pauline Fratesi of Leland, Miss.; a brother, Claude Montgomery of Hiram, Mo.; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
