H.D. MONTGOMERY DIES IN HOSPITAL
Harry D. Montgomery, 74, retired executive of the Springfield Mattress company here, died Sunday evening at St. John's hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Montgomery became ill Saturday and was removed to the hospital where death followed at 9:10 o'clock Sunday evening.
He was born in Petersburg and came to Springfield thirty-three years ago. His brother, William M. Montgomery organized the Springfield Mattress company in 1889. William died in 1925.
Harry Montgomery served for some time as treasurer of the firm. He was a member of Elliott Avenue Baptist church and was widely known here.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the residence, 912 West Grand avenue, north, and at 2:30 o'clock at Elliott Avenue Baptist church. Rev. J.W. Merrill will officiate. Pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.
Interment will be made in Roselawn Memorial park.
