Mrs. Anna Elisabeth Montanye, age 99, of Gloversville, died Thursday morning, September 2, 2010, at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility in Gloversville.
She was born May 22, 1911, in Glenville, the daughter of the late Adolf Kastul and Theresa Thiel Kastul. She attended Rotterdam schools and came to the Gloversville area in 1929.
She was employed by Nathan Littauer Hospital as a dietary technician for a time, and then was a glove worker at Grandoe Glove Company for 42 years.
Mrs. Montanye was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church and the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Club.
She was married on June 19, 1931, to Daniel C. Montanye, who died December 29, 1966. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Claire F. Montanye of Scotia; four grandchildren, Linda Snyder of Hadley, Kurt Montanye of Ballston Spa, Amy Adam of Yorktown, VA and Theresa Montanye of Rotterdam; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Audrey Fischer and Corliss Mitchell; and a nephew, Donald Rorick. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn Ann Montanye; son, Richard Daniel Montanye; brother, Alfred John Kastul; and sister, Frieda Rorick.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, September 7, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev.
