MRS. KATE MONNETT DIES
End Comes At Hospital After Three Weeks Illness
Funeral Services for Mother of Maj. Ward Schrantz of Press Conducted Today
Mrs. Kate Monnett, 1002 Valley Street died at the Carthage hospital at 4 o'clock yesterday morning. Mrs. Monnett had been at the hospital the last two weeks. She was taken seriously ill three weeks ago. Bright's disease and a complication of other ailments.
Mrs. Monnett, who was 63 years old, had lived in Carthage for 35 years and was well known here. She was born in Summit county, Ohio, September 5, 1860 and was married in Stark county, that state in 1878 to Henry Schrantz. They first came to Jasper county in 1889, returning to Ohio for a brief stay and again coming to Carthage in 1891. Mr. Schrantz died in January 1893. In 1900 Mrs. Schrantz was married to Dr. W.D. Monnett of this city. He died in 1918.

Mrs. Mahala Stoner of Louisville, Ohio
Mrs. Alice Shoffstall of Olney, Illinois
Mrs. Monnett was a member of the First Presbyterian church. She also was a Rebekah, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Women's Relief Corps and a War Mother.
Funeral services were held at the home on Valley street at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The Rev. J.D. McCaughtry, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, was in charge. Mrs. M.W. Izand and F.N. Jones sang the funeral hymns, Mrs. R.W. Webster playing the accompaniments.
Attendance at the funeral was very large, filling not only the house but the yard. Floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
