Retta graduated from Eckley High School in 1937. Retta was united in marriage to Virgil Eugene Harman on December 27, 1937. She was a devoted mother to their child Virginia Anne (Harman) Harris.
Retta was proud of her work at the Hastings hospital as well as her mailroom work at the Grand Island Ordinance Plant during World War II. She enjoyed being a member of Eastern Star, gardening, baking and sewing. She took pride in passing these skills on to Virginia and her grand children. Retta was also an avid square dancer, knitter, and especially loved to read.
After years of traveling for Virgil's work, they retired to Kerville, Texas. They enjoyed many years RV'ing around the country to see the sights and visit family and friends.
Retta is preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil, brothers Ernie, Kenneth and Casey, sisters Sarah, Beulah, and Clara.
Retta survivors are: daughter Virginia and husband, Everett Harris of Euless, Texas; grandchildren, Marc and Wendy Harris of Omaha, Nebraska and Mary and Thomas Smart of Robins, Iowa; great grandchildren, Nick Ferguson, Austin and wife, Megan Griffith, Jessica Smart, Rachel Harris and Nolan Harris; great great granddaughter, Lucy Alice Griffith and a host of family and friends.
Interment was in Guide Rock Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska.
