Sad Death of Mrs. W.H. Mongold
Mrs. W.H. Mongold, nee Suffonsbay Shuttleworth, died at her home near Whetstone, Monday March 11, after a lingering illness of about a month of dropsy. Mrs. Mongold was three times married. Being first married to Jeff Davis. Her second husband was Ira Shuttleworth, and her last husband, whom she was living with when death came being William H. Mongold, a Confederate Civil War veteran of the Army of North Virginia (SC 1st Regiment, Orr's Rifles, Company C - The Mountain Boys). She leaves by her fist husband Tinsley Davis, of Atlanta, Georgia, by her second husband five children, Mrs. Mattie Blackwell, of Westminster, Mrs. Winnie Whitman, Pendleton, Mrs. Maggie Maronie, Pendleton, Willie Shuttlesworth, Westminster, Harrison Shuttlesworth, Westminster. She also leaves a host of grand children.
If she had lived until the 21st of this month she would have been 74 years old.
Her remains were brought to Holly Springs for burial. The funeral services being conducted by Rev. L.D. Chambers.
