Vena M. Kulp of West Chester

Vena M. Kulp, 79, of West Chester, Thornbury Township, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester.
She was the wife of the late Carl R. Kulp Sr.
Born Oct. 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John William and Ethel Watson Molloy.
She was a homemaker.
Vena was born near Lakeview, Texas. She was educated in Texas schools, attending colleges in Canyon and El Paso. She had been a resident of West Chester since 1997.
Vena was a member of the New Century Club, serving as its president from 1968-1970 and again from 1988-1990.
She was a former treasurer of the Chester County Federation of Women's Clubs and served as its president from 1980-1982.
While in Childress, Texas, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Vena was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ in Wilmington, Del., where she taught children's Bible classes for many years and served as the church secretary for 20 years.
She is survived by two sons, Carl R. Kulp Jr. of St. Louis, Mo. and William E. Kulp II of West Chester; two daughters, Lavena Butler of Pittsburgh and Erin Gilchrist of Downingtown; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at DellaVecchia, Reilly & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, 610-696-1181. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester.
