Loretta A. Baxter, 95, of Falls City, NE, passed away May 23, 2011 at Falls City. She was born April 11, 1916 at Preston, NE to the late John and Ella (Pyle) Mohler.
On May 2, 1937 she married Donald Baxter at Preston. He passed away January 10, 1946.
Loretta was raised in the Preston area and graduated from Falls City High School in 1933. The couple established their home in Falls City when married and she had continued to make her home here. She worked in Phelps Drug Store from October 1948 through November 1949 when Reuben Metzger was the manager. The store was purchased by Herman Shestak and called Shestak's Drug Store and she worked there from November 1949 to 1976 and then worked for Ken Kunce at Ken's Pharmacy from May 1976 to 1983 when she retired. She had been an occasional receptionist at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home after retiring from Ken's Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where she had served on the Church Vestry and taught Sunday School; had been a member of the BPO Elks Drove #56 and Rebekah Lodge #103 all of Falls City.
Loretta is survived by her daughter, Terry Stradtman of Falls City, son, Donald of Omaha, NE, grandchildren, Christi Rice of Kingsport, TN, Kyle Baxter of Omaha and a great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with Reverend Larry Parrish officiating. Inurnment will be in Steele Cemetery.
