Funeral services for Leona L. Burkes, 84, were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 10, 1991 at the Forestlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Scott County, MS. Rev. Jimmy McDill officiated. Interment was made in the Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS.
Mrs. Burkes passed away on May 7, 1991, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a homemaker and a member of the Forest baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Leon Pickard of Baton rouge, LA; one brother, Rob Moffett, Meridian, MS; two sisters, Alice Cannon, Lucedale, MS and Lela Briggs, Meridian, MS; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Forestlawn Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of the arrangements.
