ACTON, JESSIE L., 82, of Vestavia Hills, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009. Mrs. Acton was born September 25, 1925 in Winston County. Jessie was a longtime member of Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the adjacent cemetery of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Acton; parents, J. A. and Julia Mize; sisters, Pearl Bridewell, Dora Lancaster, Alda Newberry, Bessie Williams, and Pernie Atherly; brothers, Leonard, Lester, Warren, and Audie Mize. Jessie is survived by one step-daughter, Helen Riggs; her adopted son and caregiver, Danny Fravel; and a host of family and friends.
