Alta Mae BOHANNON Passed away January 12, 2008 at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington. Alta Mae was born to Boyd Ralph Mitchell and Elsie Mae (Holbrook) Mitchell on Dec. 2, 1925 in Orchard, Nebraska. She attended school in Orchard, taught elementary school after high school graduation, and then attended the Methodist School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating from nursing school, she and a nursing school friend came to Washington State to work. They planned on working and living around different parts of the U.S. Both married and remained in this area. Alta Mae married Richard Leroy "Dick" Bohannon on March 6, 1953 in Seattle, Washington living in the south Seattle area, near Renton. They were members of the Bryn Mawr United Methodist Church for many years. After retiring they moved to Des Moines, Washington and are members of the Des Moines United Methodist Church. For many years Alta Mae and husband, Dick, enjoyed extended boating vacations to the San Juan Islands and Canada. They also enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Alta Mae was preceded in death by her parents and Brother, Donald Mitchell and his wife, Anna Mae. She is survived by her husband, Dick Bohannon, daughter, Nadine (Mike) Yee, son, Duane Bohannon, grandchildren, Michelle, Brian, Alan and Eric Yee, and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Sat., February 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Des Moines United Methodist Church, 22225 9th Avenue South, Des Moines, Washington. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Des Moines United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Private Interment will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, Washington.
