Courtney was born Jan. 21 1976, the daughter of Richard F. and Rachael Adkins of Panama City Beach, Fla. She was a lifelong area resident and a Baptist by faith. Courtney was a former employee of AFLAC and an Emergency Medical Technician with Lifestar Ambulance Service. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Alto S. Wilkes.
Survivors other than her parents include her husband, Wayne L. Mitchell Jr., of Columbus; a daughter, Madison Joyce Mitchell; two sisters, Amy Dudley and Brandy Donegan, both of Phenix City; her in-laws, Clifford and Charlotte Hall and Wayne and Mary Mitchell all of Columbus. Other survivors include her grandmother, Eunice Wombles and her husband, Harold Wombles of Phenix City, and her grandparents, Leon and Dorothy Adkins of Opp, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Michelle S. Mitchell of Columbus; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
