She was the widow of Albert H. Mitchell, who died in 1979, a retired director of the Carter Oil Company, an ExxonMobil affiliate.
The daughter of Tempe Glenn and Jean Shaw Boynton, pioneer Oklahomans. Her maternal grandfather was a territorial judge based in Guthrie. She attended Stephens College, Columbia, MO.
From the time of her marriage in Tulsa in 1930, she was active in civic affairs. She was on the board of directors of the Babies Milk Fund, president of the Junior Association of the Tulsa Boys Home, and president of the Central High School PTA. While she was active in the Boys Home, she was chairman of the Tulsa Charity Horse Show in its early years. She was a devoted member of the Stephens College Alumnae Club and a dedicated volunteer for the MS Society.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James F. Boynton and his wife, Margaret, of Shawnee, and her sister Jeanne Boynton Field, and her husband, Vernon C. Field, of Southern Pines, NC.
The funeral service will be held at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel 2:00 PM Monday, February 11.
