CEDAR BLUFF, Va. – Mrs. Lettie Mae Mitchell Beavers, age 92, of the Baptist Valley section, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Pounding Mill, Va., and was the daughter of the late Mack and Mary Catherine Baldwin Mitchell, both Tazewell County natives. She had made her home in the Baptist Valley area all of her life and was a member of the Red Ash Free Pentecostal Church of God. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Crockett Garland Beavers; three sisters, Pearl Harmon, Oakley Whitt and Roadie Mitchell; two half sisters, Salley Goss and Margaret Davis; and four brothers, John, Isaac, George and Ervin Mitchell.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris (Dot) Roberts and husband Michael of Cedar Bluff; one son, David Crockett Beavers and wife Sharon of Cedar Bluff; three grandchildren, Kimberly Bland Burnett, Michael Todd Roberts and Shawn Lee Roberts and wife Patrishia; and one great-grandson, Blandon Connor Grant Burnett.
Funeral services for Lettie Mae Mitchell Beavers will be conducted Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Billy Harris and the Rev. Max Linkous officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va.
Pallbearers will be Rick Hess, Joe Mitchell, Wayne Shortridge, Tommy Bandy, Jay Perkins and Jerry Wyatt.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands.
