On Saturday, August 21, 2010, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home from a lengthy illness, with family by her side. She was seventy-six years old.
Juliana Julie Miranda Acosta was born March 18, 1934 in Ballesteros, Cagayan Philippines and was the third eldest child of Faustino and Pillar Miranda. After graduating from college, she worked as a midwife in the Philippines for several years.
She then met her late husband, Gregorio Acosta, in Manila, Philippines and married, then soon after immigrated to the United States in 1969. They first settled in Lompoc, CA for two years. They then settled in Oxnard, CA, where they decided to start a family. They had two children, Greg and Janel.
Juliana was a tireless hard worker. She was employed by Becton Dickinson, worked at several convalescent homes, and United Cerebral Palsy. She then started her own home care facility in Oxnard. She was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, BRASCA- Ballesteros Residence Association of Southern California, and several other local Filipino organizations.
She enjoyed going to Las Vegas with friends and spending quality time with her grandchildren. It was very comforting to know she went home to the Philippines three weeks prior to her death, to visit her many friends and family members, as she was happy to see them all.
She was preceded in death by her dearly beloved late husband of twenty-nine years Gregorio Acosta. She is survived by her son, Greg and daughter-in-law Antonette Acosta of Oxnard, and daughter Janel and son-in-law PJ McQuone of Camarillo. Her surviving siblings are: Alejandro Miranda of Oxnard, Felisa Miranda Bernardo of Oxnard, Guadencio Miranda of Ballesteros, Cagayan Philippines, Constantino Miranda of Oxnard, and Al Miranda of Oxnard. Grandchildren Adam, Nathan, Dana, Hazel, and Ava. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Doroteo Miranda and Aquilino Miranda.
Arrangements are under the care of Conejo Mountain Funeral home and Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, CA. A viewing is scheduled for Friday August 27, 2010 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. and a memorial service on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 1:30 p.m.
