April 24, 1927 — Jan. 28, 2011
Haydee Aviles , 83 of Fairfield died peacefully in her home on Friday, January 28, 2011, surrounded by family and close friends after a valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer.
A native of Nicaragua, Haydee married her soul mate Robert in Managua Nicaragua on November 21, 1946. While living in Nicaragua the couple had two sons, Roberto Jose and Douglas Antonio. In 1952 the couple moved from Nicaragua and settled in San Francisco, Calif., where their third child Glenda del Carmen was born. Upon retirement, Roberto and Haydee relocated to Fairfield.
Haydee was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Fairfield, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and visited the sick in the local hospitals. Her strong faith ever present helped guide her through life and gave her peace through her illness. Even during her last year, her concern for others never ceased. Haydee enjoyed life and was forever young at heart. Haydee loved traveling and her “weekend” shopping trips with Glenda and her friends. She adored caring for her youngest grandson, Mateo spending time with him either playing baseball or having him in her lap watching movies and taking naps together.
Haydee is survived by her son, Robert and daughter-in-law Patricia; daughter, Glenda Aviles-Hague and son-in-law Matthew; six grandchildren, Robert, Nina, Yesenia and Douglas Aviles, Sara Miranda and Mateo Hague; three great-grandchildren, Adriana Aviles, Hanna Aviles and Mallory Stein; sisters, Iris Miranda, Thelma Rizo; brothers, Roberto and Reynaldo Miranda and numerous nephews and nieces. And also her loyal four legged companion, Sammy. Haydee was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2000 and her son Douglas in 2003.
Haydee will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, friend and confidante to the many people whose lives she touched. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, 5-9 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4, 10:30 a.m., at Our of Mount Carmel followed by a Committal Service at Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield, Calif.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West Texas Street, 425-4697.
