In 1920 she lived on the same farm that her mother grew up on with her parents, maternal grandmother, and her grandmother's brother Joseph Patterson. Her grandmother owned the farm mortgage free by then. It was located on the Eastbrook and Neshannock Falls Road. Her father was working as a clerk for the B and O Railroad.

In 1930 she and her mother and grandmother lived in a house at 695 Terrace Street in Meadville, PA that her mother was renting for $45 a month. They did not have a radio. Her parents had apparently divorced by then, although her mother was shown as married, and in 1940 would be shown as widowed. Her father was renting a room at 612 Carleton Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, and working as an insurance agent.

In 1940 she and her husband lived in a house in Conneaut Lake Park in Sadsbury Township, Crawford County, PA that they were renting for $20 a month. He was a machinist for Talon Fastener, and in 1939 had earned $1680 for 52 weeks of work.

In 1950 she lived with her parents and maternal grandmother in a house in Randolph Township, Crawford County, PA. Her father worked planting trees for the State of Pennsylvania.
