Laurie Knapp, was born in Atlanta on July 7, 1934 and passed away on December 10. She resided in Atlanta her entire life. She attended the Spring Street School, and graduated with honor from Washington Seminary in 1952. She attended Agnes Scott College in 1953, but was unable to continue due to her marriage in 1953. She later completed her education at Kennesaw State where she graduated Suma Cum Laudia in 1986.
Laurie was the daughter of Harold W. Minor Sr, and Rubye Hollingsworth Miner, and the sister of the late Harold W. Minor Jr, who was the founding Pastor of Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Laurie was active in both classical ballet and vocal performance initially as a member of the Atlanta Ballet, and later as a member of The Atlanta Choral Guild under the direction of Robert Shaw. She was also an active small boat sailor in the Atlanta Yacht Club, and campaigned with her husband and son for over 30 years. She also found time to work as a dental assistant and editor for a national market research organization.
She loved to travel, and accompanied her husband in business and on vacations in the United States, Alaska, and Europe, but her favorite pastime was to sit on the balcony of our condominium in St. Augustine, Florida, watching her Grandchildren playing on the beach, and later sipping a glass of wine while contemplating the sunset.
She is survived by her husband David H. Knapp Sr, her son David H. Knapp Jr, His wife Sheree Johnson Knapp, and her Grand Children, David H. Knapp III, and Sarah Elizabeth Knapp.
