Horace A. Minor, 93, of Snellville, GA, passed away October 17, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Smith Minor, a daughter, Elaine Minor, and brothers, Marcus, Keith, and Hulon Minor. He is survived by daughter, Jerry (Mike) Mumford; son, Alston (Jo) Minor; granddaughter, Jessica (Greg) Robertson; sisters, Rebecca Minor and Christine Williams; sisters-in-law, Flora Strohbert and Jane Garner; brothers-in-law, Edgar Smith and John (Ramona) Smith. Additionally, he is survived by a number of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Horace was born on Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross, GA to J.A. and Alma Craig Minor and lived on Beaver Ruin Road for 90 years before moving to Snellville, GA. He was a graduate of Norcross High School class of 1934.

Mr. Minor was the oldest member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where he was known for his friendly smile, welcoming handshake, and prowess selling Bar-B-Que dinners. At Mt. Carmel, he was a devoted member of the Friendship Sunday School class. Mr. Minor was a veteran of World War II obtaining the rank of Sergeant while serving with the 91st Chemical Mortar Battalion assigned to General Patton's 3rd Army in the European Theater.

He worked as a farmer, in the grocery business for Garner's Grocery, and as a gasoline tanker truck driver for Amoco Oil Company where he distinguished himself by having 30 plus years of safe driving. Mr. Minor enjoyed rabbit hunting, playing checkers, swapping tales, and was a loyal Atlanta Crackers and Braves baseball fan.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21st, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross. Burial will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 20th, from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Mt.
