Jerry Landrum Minick Sr., 59, died Saturday morning at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a long illness. The native and lifelong resident of Brooklet was co-owner of Minick Brothers Hardware, Minick Garden Centers, and worked as a realtor before retiring in 1989. The Korean War veteran was ordained as a deacon of First Baptist Church of Brooklet in 1966 and served for many years as Sunday school superintendent. He later joined Statesboro First Baptist Church, where was a member of the Searson Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Knight Minick, Brooklet; one daughter, Mitzi Knight Minick, Stone Mountain; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. Minick Jr. and Bonny Van Haren Minick, Conyers; one brother, Robert Earl Minick Sr., Brooklet; and one grandchild.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Statesboro First Baptist Church, with Drs. Jimmy Voyles and David Parker, and the Rev. Julian Ward officiating. Burial will be in Brooklet City Cemetery. Hodges-Turner Funeral Home.
