John J. Minett, 64, died at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Springfield, the son of John B. and Mary Sugent Minett. He married Eileen Conavay in 1955. Before his retirement in 1978, Mr. Minett was a captain of the Springfield Fire Department. He was appointed in 1947 and served with the department for 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Jimmy Cauthen.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen "Connie"; three sons; one daughter; mother, Mrs. Mary Tanner of Omaha, Neb.; stepmother, Mrs. Doris Minett of Springfield; and eight grandchildren.
Services at Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert Langworthy officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
