Our dear, kind, loving Louise Mills Davis, 83, passed away Tues., Nov. 16, 2010, in Denver, Colo. while visiting her family.

She was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Neola, at her grandmother Helen Hutcheon's home, to Loren Andrew Mills and Violet Eaton Hutcheon. She was the fourth of five children.

Louise went to Neola grade school for eight years and Roosevelt High School for four years. Her first job was working with her dad at Calder's Cheese Factory in Neola where she dipped the cheese in wax. She also spent a lot of time with Grandma Hutcheon, cleaning her house on Saturdays.

Louise met her eternal sweetheart, Don Davis, at seminary graduation where Louise was giving a speech. She said it was love at first sight. Don asked Louise on a date to a dance. He borrowed his mom's Model A Ford, picked up Louise and headed out. They had seven flat tires when they pulled into the driveway, they were driving on all four rims. They never made it to the dance. After dating for two years, they were married in Las Vegas, Nev., on Feb. 19, 1946, and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in 1964 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Louise was a truck driver, without a CDL license. She was supposed to just drive across the state line, and then let Don drive. But Louise would just keep driving and let Don sleep on the way home.

Louise was a homemaker and loved to grow flowers in her garden. After the loss of her son Billy, Louise started working at the New Life Training Center in Vernal. She worked with handicapped children for 12 years. She helped her daughter, Leslie, get to beauty school and said that after she sent her to school, she never came back. Leslie married Owen Collins and they moved to Denver with the grandchildren. Louise loved her family and she talked often about her grandkids.

She is survived by: daughter, Leslie (Owen) Collins; granddaughters, Lisa (Corless) Chavez and Natalie (Mark) Skeet; grandson, Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Marshall and Madison, all of Denver, Colo.; brother, Wayne Mills; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Davis; her son, William Loren (Billy) Davis; grandson, Brian Lorin Collins; brothers, Shirley Mills and Clair Mills; and sister, June Mills King.

Louise loved her family and was kind to everyone that she met. She loved her husband Don very much and was very devoted to him. When Don had cancer, and was in the Care Center in Roosevelt, she drove over every day to spend time with him. As her memory began to fail, and Don was out of her sight, she would ask, "Where's that Don Davis?" She always had a positive attitude and would always tell people that she and Don were hanging in there, and holding on tight.

Thanks so much to all the many friends, neighbors and family for the many acts of kindness and service given in Don and Louise's behalf. Funeral services were held Sat., Nov. 20, at the Vernal 6th Ward Chapel at 11 a.m. under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Interment was at Vernal Memorial Park.
