Alice, of Deweyville, passed away Sunday while evacuating for Hurricane Gustav.
Born in Louisiana to Jacob and Fannie (Ebey) Dedon, she moved to Deweyville from Baton Rouge and resided there since 1955. She along with her husband worked for and managed a store for the Charter Oil Company in Orange where she retired in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Deweyville where she enjoyed working in the kitchen to prepare food for Wednesday dinner and many other gatherings at the church. She also enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James "Buster" Millet; her sister, Mary Duplessis and her brothers, Morris Dedon, Elmo Dedon, Hubert Dedon and J.C."Buddy" Dedon.
She is survived by her step-daughters, Betty Richie and her husband Harold and Audrey Manuel; sisters, Dorothy Hryhorchuk and Lillie Hall, Barbara Jean Alonzo and her husband Perry and Bertha Androwski; brother, Alfred Dedon and his wife Eunice; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Interment will follow at a later date in the Bowman Dedon Cemetery next to her husband, in St. Francisville, Louisiana.
