Elizabeth C. Brehob went home to be with her Lord on March 12, 2013.
She was born in 1914 to Henry and Sophia ( Rugenstein) Miller.
Her beloved husband, Alvin Brehob, and six siblings preceded her in death: Emma Mussmann, Helene Moeller, Clara Lukenbill, Bertha Menges, Henry Miller Jr., and Carl Miller.
Elizabeth is survived by her three children: Norman Brehob(Linda), Wayne Brehob (Marie) and Karen Fuller (Don Schutt). Also surviving her are her nine grandchildren: Diana Brehob (Todd Kappauf), Janel deVries (Jim) Amy Dahl (Jeff), Karen MacKenzie (Doug), Ellen Brehob, Wayne Brehob (Carrie), Paul Brehob (Jamie), Kelly Oswalt (Todd). Her beloved grandson, Neil Brehob predeceased her in December 2012. As Elizabeth's family expanded, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren were added to her family.
Elizabeth was confirmed in 1928 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Her church membership was transferred to Friedens United Church of Christ at the time of her marriage, and later due to convenience of location, to Pleasant Run United Church of Christ. In both places she was an active member who filled numerous roles during her almost eighty years of church service.
Elizabeth's official role was homemaker, but she possessed many talents that extended beyond homemaking. She was an extraordinary seamstress, an award winning painter, a poet, and a writer. During her later years, her primary sewing focus was spent making school bags and she enjoyed seeing pictures of some of the delighted children who received these bags. Making quilts to be sent to those in need filled much of the rest of her time. As she pieced them together she imagined the many ways in which they might be utilized by their recipients who were often barely surviving in areas of famine or conflict.
Although Elizabeth's creative endeavors and interests were many and often changed with the seasons of her life, her one constant was her love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a life-long student of the Bible and was not shy about arguing a theological point with her seminary-trained pastors. Until the end of her life, her first words each morning were, "This is the day the Lord has made. We shall be glad and rejoice in it." It is with great joy and gratitude that her family rests in the knowledge that she is at peace now with her Savior and Lord.
