ELIZABETH ANN AHRENDT, 85, of Fremont, Neb., was called out of this life into eternal life as a gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, to receive the consummation of her Baptism, the crown of eternal life. Born Jan. 26, 1921, in Fort Wayne, she was a gift of God to her parents, Henry and Mina Puls Miller. She was received into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on Feb. 13, 1921 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. She reaffirmed her faith in God's baptismal promises with Pastor Fred Wambsganss at her Confirmation April 14, 1935 at Emmaus Lutheran, where she would become a lifelong member.
She attended Emmaus Lutheran Elementary School and Concordia Lutheran High School, Fort Wayne. While attending Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, she earned her bachelors degree in elementary education. She was introduced to Maynard Ahrendt while they were students at the University, and they were married on June 21, 1943, in Tempe, Ariz. She taught some 20 years at Emmaus Lutheran Elementary School. She also was a member of Emmaus Ladies Aid, Valparaiso Guild, Valparaiso Alumni, Women's Organization of National Retail Druggists, and a Girl Scout Leader.
Those who remain to grieve her loss and rejoice in her life are her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Pastor Timothy Anderson of Fremont, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Lord Ahrendt of Arlington Heights, Ill.; five grandchildren, Elisabeth and Matthew Ahrendt, Benjamin, Johanna and Samuel Anderson; sister-in-law, Virginia Hasewinkle; one niece; and three nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Ahrendt; and brother, Dr. H. Paul Miller.
Family and friends will celebrate these and all of God's blessings with a Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2320 Broadway, Fort Wayne. Her body will be lovingly laid to rest in God's earth at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, to await in peace the day of the Resurrection. This is the earthly record of Elizabeth Ahrendt. The heavenly record reads, "Blessed are those who die believing in the Lord, for they will rest from their hard work." "The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from every sin." Memorial gifts may be given to Emmaus Lutheran School, Fort Wayne.
