Dot was born to the late Lucy Anna Zimmerman Miller and the late George Benjamin Miller, passed away on Tuesday, the 7th of October 2008. She was 99. Dot was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, friend and confidant. In 1926, Dot graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School, where she played varsity basketball and tennis. She continued to be an avid tennis player and ranked as city champion in Fort Wayne for two consecutive years. She was an accomplished equestrian. She attended Indiana University, where she joined the Delta Omicron chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority and performed with Jordan River Revue, a musical theatre group. While at IU, Dot met and, in 1931, married Wilbert Overton Catterton, her best friend and husband of 49 years. After college, she taught fourth grade at the Hillcrest School in Ft. Wayne. Dot and Will moved to Houston in 1935. She was a member of Houston Literary Society, Pan American Round Table, River Oaks Rose Club, Art Association of St. Thomas, and Institute for International Education, where she served as chairman of the executive committee. She was a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and a member of Houston Country Club. Her great loves were Will, her two daughters, playing golf and bridge, deer hunting with Will, and eating fabulous desserts. Her beloved Will, who passed away in 1980, and her brother, Harold Miller, preceded Dot in death. Known as "Mama Dot" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Ann Catterton Brown and husband, Irving J. "Sonny" Brown, El Paso, and Julie Catterton Kemper and husband, James W. Kemper, M.D., Houston; nine grandchildren: Julie Brown Tomlin and husband, Mark; Adin Brown and wife, Christi; Will Brown and wife, Katherine; Ann Brown; Alexander Dancy and wife, Shelly; Claiborne Dancy and wife, Martha; Blair Dancy and wife, Allison; Katherine Kemper Putnam and husband, Michael; and Deborah Kemper; 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Blair McDonald Catterton; and two nieces, Nancy Fisher and Lynne Schricte.
