Rev. Walter Miller

Funeral services for the Rev. Walter A. Miller, 58, Otsego County Pomona Grange Chaplain, were held Wednesday at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home, Cooperstown. The Rev. Mr. Miller died Sunday, October 8, at the Verterans' Hospital, Albany.
He came to Otsego County in 1950 and served as pastor of the Baptist Churches at Westville, Middlefield, Roseboom, Gilbertsville, and Hartwick.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Bowers, Northville and Mrs. Everett Lane, Rutherford, N.J.; two brothers, Charles Miller, Spartanburg, S.C. and James Miller, Rome; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Walter A. Miller

The Rev. Walter A. Miller, aged 58, of Hartwick, died October 8 in the Albany Veterans Hospital.
He was born in 1903, the son of William and Alice (Cook) Miller. He was ordained a Baptist minister on May 16, 1927, in the First Baptist Church in Gloversville.
Rev. miller came to Otsego County in 1930 and served as pastor of the Baptist Churches at Westville, Middlefield, Roseboom, Gilbertsville, and Hartwick.
He was discharged from service November 21, 1945, after serving in the European Theater for 23 months. He took part in five major campaigns during one of which he was awarded the bronze star.
He was a member of the officer reserve corps and was chaplain of the 147 Engineer Combat Group Headquarters of Binghamton. He was a past master of Butternut Grange; chaplain of the Gilbertsville American Legion; was active in the Otschodela Council Boy Scouts serving as first aid director of the Crumhorn Mountain camp for several years.
He was chaplain of Otsego County Pomona Grange; chaplain of the Sgt. Walter P. Eggleston Post No. 7128, V.F.W. of Cooperstown; was chaplain of Clark F. Simmons Post No. 579, American legion of Cooperstown; was a member and past chaplain of Cherry Valley Lodge, F&AM, and a member of the Cherry Valley Chapter, OES. He was an honorary member of James V. Connors post, Veterans of World War II of Jersey City, N.J.
Surviving are two sisters, mrs. Raymond Bowers of Northvillena dMrs. Everett Bowers of Rutherford, N.J.; two brothers, Charles Miller of Spartanburg, S.C. and James Miller of Rome and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m
