Betty Jean Miller, 86, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on Aug. 24, 1925, in Morgan County, an only child of Herman and Eva Beatrice (Leonard) Wallace. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Wile Miller.
She graduated from Lebanon High School and earned her degree at the Indiana Central Business College in Indianapolis.
Active in the community, she helped with the BASE program at Stokes Elementary School. In the late 70s and early 80s she and her husband retailed various crafts at Creations Ltd. She also managed the Millerwood Apartments and worked part time as a receptionist at Ulen Country Club.
Betty loved people and was a very gracious, giving and caring lady, having spent much of her time caring for various family members. Her hobbies were making flower arrangements, sewing, quilting, flower gardening and entertaining. Her favorite holiday was Easter, for which she enjoyed collecting bunnies. She served on the Altar Guild of Centenary United Methodist Church, was a member of Psi Iota Xi, was formerly active in the Boone County Symphony Unit, Cooking Club and several Bridge clubs.
Betty's greatest love were her husband, children and grandchildren. Her children are Cheryl Sue McCracken of Fishers, Henry Earl Miller and wife, Shiron, of Indianapolis, and Betsy Jean Cripe of Sheridan. Her grandchildren are Abby E. McCracken, Shelby M. McCracken, Heather N. Solomon, Michael L. Cook and Thomas L. Cook.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Marcy Patrick officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
