BRANCHLAND - Opal Agnes Miller Lucas, 82, of Branchland died July 12, 1997, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, after a long illness.
She was born October 24, 1914 in Myra, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elder Gilbert and Nancy Susan Edwards Miller.
She was a homemaker and a member of Branchland United Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Chauncey Rock Lucas; one son, Jennings Dale Lucas; one grandson, Joel Michael Lucas; five brothers, Cecil, Gilbert Jr., John, Homer and Albert.
Surviving are six sons and daughters-in-law, Fred L. and Jeanie of Columbus, Ohio, Chauncey L. and Lula of Branchland, Okey Dwayne and Patsy of VanHorn, Texas, James and Carol of Orlando, Fla., Allen and Peggy, and Roger and Billie, both of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Esther and Don Martens of Boonville, Ind., Karen and George Porter of Branchland, Sharon and Ronald Lucas of Ranger; sisters, Martha Elliott of Guysville, Ohio, Mary Wells of Big Creek; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Branchland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Burns and the Rev. Zachary Bills officiating. Burial will be in Lucas cemetery, Hamlin.
