MARIE CROOK

Marie Crook, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in Colonial Manor in
Bowling Green, Ky. She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in San Angelo. She
married Earl Crook Dec. 22, 1937. She was retired from San Angelo
National Bank. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of
San Angelo. She was past president of Desk and Derrick Club of San
Angelo and Business and Professional Women and a member of America
Banking Women, Literary Review Club and Porcelain Arts Club.

Mrs. Crook was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Joe and
Pearl Miller; and one sister, Eva Jo Miller.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Darolyn and Jim Barbee
of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren, David Downing and his wife,
Kristie, Neal Downing and his wife, Joy, and Linda Downing, all of
Bowling Green, and Mark Downing and his wife, Cathy, of Detroit,
Mich.; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Jay Barbee
and his wife, Leah, of Spartanburg, Joe Barbee and his wife, Tina, of
Fort Mill, S.C., and John Barbee and his wife, Kerrie, of Roanoke,
Va.; five step-great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law,
Margie and Jack Gregg of San Angelo.

Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, in
Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Martin officiating. Arrangements
are by Johnsons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or a
favorite charity.
