Theodosia Miller Elliott Grave Site
Township 26, Range 31
Present Owner: Malheur National Wildlife Refuge
Just inside the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge boundary adjoining the townsite of The Narrows one-fourth mile north of the buildings is a small fenced parcel of land containing two graves. Theodosia Miller Elliott was the wife of Henderson Elliott, an 1853 Elliott Route pioneer. Next to this grave is a marker with no name that is thought to be the stone for a child of a family named Reineman. Both Mrs. Elliott and the Reineman child were residents of The Narrow. The Elliotts moved to The Narrows from the Willamette Valley and homesteaded north of the town in 1890. He later sold the property to A. H. McKenzie. The Elliott gravestone records that Theodosia was born March 5, 1855, and died August 25, 1892. Henderson Elliott died in Burns about 1916. In 1967 corpsmen from the Malheur Job Corps Center set the Elliott gravestone in concrete and fenced the site.
Rating:
Significance: Low. Little information about the grave could be found.
Integrity: High. Gravesite is fenced, and stone is in good condition.
