Mary Bess Miller Groves, 89, a loving wife, mother, sister and grandparent, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 8, 2013, in Richmond. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mary was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, to William G. and Zelma Pauline Miller, the oldest of two children. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth. She then married Mr. J.B. Groves Jr. of Fort Worth; they had three children. Mary worked for American Airlines for 20 years as administrative assistant to the chief flight surgeon. She had many hobbies and interests, including painting, sewing and was an avid reader. She enjoyed volunteering as a den mother for the Boy Scouts. Later in life she enjoyed many collectibles and setting up a booth at the Will Rogers Cattle Barn Flea Market. Mary brought much joy to an abundance of people by which their paths crossed and will be deeply missed. Mary was predeceased by her husband, J.B. Groves Jr.; brother, William G. Miller Jr.; and her parents, William G. Miller Sr. and Zelma Pauline Miller. Survivors: Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Groves III (Debbie), Mary Annette Groves, Mr. and Mrs. Michael T. Flannagan (Paula); grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Felger (Adriene), Jaye Schumacher, Bryan Dale Banks and Kevin Flannagan; great-grandchildren, Bella and Matt Felger Jr., Nichols Adam and Kathleen Jo Banks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
