Steven Marshall Mickle
Steven Marshall Mickle, of Roanoke, formerly of Lynchburg VA went to be with his Lord on July 15, 2012.
Born in St. Louis he was the son of the late Carlton Spencer Mickle and Meredythe Miller Mickle.
He graduated from E.C. Glass High School and maintained deep life long friendships with the companions he journeyed with on a canoe trip spanning from the New River in Lynchburg and ending in New Orleans. He served proudly in the Navy in Kodiak, Alaska. As a portrait artist, represented by Portraits South, and Portraits Inc. his pastel portraits delighted families and won him the respect and admiration of his colleagues across the country and inspired his surviving wife of 8 years, Kyle Edgell.
He also is survived by his two sons Sam Mickle , and Jed Mickle and his wife Beth, 2 Grandchildren, Gryphon and Elowen and nephews Carlton Mickle, Franz Mickle and Ben Shafer.
A funeral service with Pastor Mark Graham officiating will be held on Thursday July 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church at 4608 Brambleton Avenue Roanoke, VA. A reception and time of visitation will be held immediately following.
Donations in his name may be made to the Rescue Mission of Roanoke "HOPE Challenge" at 402 4th Street SE. Roanoke, VA 24013.
